Zema Contemporary was founded in 2023 in Barcelona’s Eixample district and later established its presence in Amsterdam. In 2026, the gallery entered a new chapter, moving into a new space in Amsterdam’s Jordaan district. Since its inception, Zema has developed a dynamic contemporary art program that embraces diverse social, cultural, and generational perspectives, with a particular focus on a carefully selected group of emerging and established artists.
As a new generation gallery, Zema places curatorial practice and long term artist development at the center of its work. Its program brings together solo and group exhibitions, interdisciplinary projects, and research oriented initiatives, focusing on artists whose practices are shaped by cross cultural experiences and sustained contemporary inquiry. The gallery is attentive to the relationship between conceptual depth and formal innovation, while creating space for dialogue between artists, audiences, and broader cultural contexts.
