Zema Contemporary is pleased to present Bawer Doganay’s solo exhibition, curated by Magda Guruli, where the artist brings together the deep rooted legacy of his native and beloved city, Mardin, with a bold, contemporary perspective. Doganay’s work is a reimagining of ancient symbols and forms, drawn from the cultural richness of his Kurdish heritage. His figures within his paintings, wandering like detached observers through the landscapes of Mesopotamia, witness the passage of time without being anchored to it. Through this visual language, Doganay engages with history in a way that is both reflective and transformative, offering a poignant exploration of the constant movement of the human experience. ​
