WOUNDED ICONS
13 december - 31 december, 2025
Zema Contemporary is proud to present Wounded Icons, a solo exhibition by Kai Harutyunyan that weaves together myth, memory, and personal narrative into a powerful visual language. This new body of work explores the artist’s deep engagement with cultural identity and collective memory, drawing from both ancestral echoes and contemporary experience. Through richly detailed compositions and symbolic imagery, Harutyunyan invites viewers into an atmospheric world where the spiritual and the psychological meet, where icons do not simply represent, but reveal their wounds. With a unique blend of painting and mixed media, he reimagines traditional forms to speak to themes of displacement, longing, and transformation. The result is a deeply moving exploration of what it means to carry history within the self. This exhibition offers not only a personal reflection, but a universal story, one that lingers in the mind long after the viewer leaves.
